A feed centre — every ingredient in one place, one balanced ration
A feed centre is effectively a processing plant. Several times a day it mixes the components into a total mixed ration (TMR), with a separate recipe for each group of animals.
Why the ration decides everything
Feeding a cow correctly is a complex task that requires a solid grasp of animal physiology. Nutrition affects not only productivity but also reproduction and herd health.
If the ration lacks even one essential nutrient, milk yield and weight gain fall, however much feed is offered. That is why a feed centre keeps every ingredient on one site and calculates the mix for each production and age group, taking the climate into account.
A profit centre
Once running, the feed centre sells surplus feed to neighbouring farms, including poultry farms, and earns extra income.
